The Welsh Highland Railway runs from Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu but is extending to Porthmadoc. This takes it through some outstanding scenery, past Mynydd Mawr with Llyn Cwellyn at its foot and on past the foot of Mount Snowdon. This railway will eventually run all the way to Porthmadoc.

The Snowdonia Riding Stables can be found just outside of Waunfawr. Lessons or trekking are both available.

The biggest indoor climbing centre in North Wales can be found up at the Beacon Climbing Centre.

Based in the old Marconi building, where the first wireless communication took place from Europe to North America. Whether you wish to try climbing for the first time (instruction available) or just wish to keep busy if the weathers inclimate, this is the place to be.
